Aug 11, 2017 - Thomasville, Georgia-based Flowers Foods Inc. notified the state of North Carolina on Thursday that it plans to permanently shut down its Winston-Salem snack cake bakery facility at 315 Cassell St. on Oct. 8 and lay off 169 employees.
Company officials said the “major reasons for this business decision are outdated equipment and insufficient volume to justify keeping the bakery open," according to a WARN noticed obtained by the Triad Business Journal.
